Potassium (kalium)
Characteristics and a meaning: Potassium (kalium) belongs to a group of alkaline metals. It occurs in the body as a positively charged ion which can be found predominantly inside of cells of human organism (unlike sodium which is for the most part outside). It is the most spread mineral in our body. Together with sodium they produce an electrochemical gradient in the paries of cells which is necessary for the cell´s life. It participates in conducting of an impuls, irritability of muscles, metabolism of carbohydrates, correct functioning of the heart, keeping of an osmotic pressure in the body, metabolism of oxygen in the brain. Potassium keeps the tension of muscles, decreases blood pressure, is a natural diuretic (substance increasing urine volume), eliminates tiredness, helps to stand high climatic temperature, prosperes to the nerve cells, decreases the stroke risk, affects positively the bones and prevents the creation of nephroliths.
The lack of a mineral
In an ideal case there should be higher intake of mineral than that of sodium but in a reality this is rarely the case. The increased intake of potassium is recommended for old people as a prevention of chronic illnesses (predominantely those of the heart). In the following instances the lack of potassium (hypokalaemia) can occur: at alcoholics, while having strong bleeding, defects of ingestion (anorexia, bulimy), during heart failure and at some kinds of nephropathia (diseases of kidneys). The increased risk of the lack of potassium takes place for those people using some diuretics and presuming laxatives. The level of potassium in blood is also decreased by licorice.
The sings of the lack of mineral
The lack of potassium can be manifested as muscles lipothymia, swallings, constipation, abdomen aches.
The considerable lack of potassium can cause muscle cramps and serious heart arrhythmias which can end by the death.
Low as well as high levels of potassium can be harmful to the heart therefore the intake of preparations containing potassium should be consulted with a physician or a dispensing chemist (especially by patients treated by digoxin).

Characteristics: The impact of salt is determined by effecting its motor, secretalitical, hormonal activity of a gastric mucous membrane and the intestinal tract, it is used as a digestive, cholerectic agent, hepatoprotectivum, pancreatostimulants, diuretic and antidiabetic agent.
Indication: Functional illness of an abdomen and upper part of a small intestine, supporting treatment of chronically recurrent ulcer disease and duodena, defect of intestinal motility without organic basis – diarrhoea, irritated colon etc., dyskinesia of efferent biliary tracts including a postcholecystectomic syndrom, chronic diseases of pancreas, chronic and subactive diseases of hepar, diabetes melitus, obesity and derangement of fats' metabolism, prevention and of metaphylaxe-oxalate cystolithiasis and gout.
Dosage: 2-3 times a day before food and to drink down with warm water or a bitter tea (c. 50°C). It is necessary to keep a potable regimen which is 3-4 decilitres of water relating to 10 kilograms of a body weight. This is reachable by drinking small sips during the whole day, maximum till 7pm. After using 2 - 3 packings the improvement of the kidneys function takes place and so does the general soothing of psyche.
Ingredients: clear stabilized mixture of calium, Carlsbad thermal salt and fibre for improvement of a digestive tract.
